einige Fragen bzgl. Steuererklärung - nonresident citizen
Posted on 12:51 by union
- I normally received the German tax refund two years after the year I declare for? May I include the refund in the sum of the year I declare for?
- I have a so called "Lohnsteuerbescheinigung". Which amounts thereof are part of the foreign earned income (Form 1040, item 7):
Arbeitgeberanteil zur Rentenversicherung
Bruttoarbeitslohn
Steuerfreie Verpflegungszuschüsse bei Auswärtstätigkeit
Steuerfreie Reisenkostenerstattung
Steuerfreie Arbeitgeberzuschüsse zur Kranken- und Pflegeversicherung
- I have a so called "Lohnsteuerbescheinigung". Which amounts thereof may I deduct as a foreign income tax?
Einbehaltene Lohnsteuer
Einbehaltener Solidaritätszuschlag
Einbehaltene Kirchensteuer
Rückerstattete Lohnsteuer
Rückerstatteter Solidaritätszuschlag
Rückerstattete Kirchensteuer
Arbeitnehmeranteil zur Rentenversicherung
- How to report Federal German Unemployment compensation?
- Are taxes contributed to the Federal German Unimployment insurance in deductable from my unemployment income
a) in general
b) in a year in which unemployment compensation was received (carryover from previous years' contributions)?
- The travel reimbursement from the employer follows an accountable plan under German regulations: tax free about 0.65 $/mile.
Do you agree: US tax free is about 0.55 $/mile (depending on year), so I add 0.1 $/mile to the foreign earned income, but I do not fill in Form 2106.
- The travel reimbursement from the employer follows an accountable plan under German regulations: tax free 6 € for meals if the travel time is more than 8 hours. Do you agree: I add this sum to the foreign earned income.
- Is there a standard deduction for business related travel expenses, if the away time is more than 12 hours or if the travel is overnight? The travel schedule is documented, the expenses are not documented.
- I do not understand the word "trust". Is a fund deposit a "trust"? Do I have to file form 3520 for a fund deposit?
- My German "Kapitalertragsbescheinigung" reports 14 $ capital gains without further details. How can I simplify insertions into Schedule D and Form 8949?
- How to treat the annual status report of a Riester pension fund, from which no money can be withdrawn until retirement?
- How to treat the grant for a Riester pension fund by Germany? The advantage depends on the amount of the foreign earned income.
- How to treat the annual status report of a fund-based life insurance? No reimbursements received, just paid-in, due date 2039, death coverage.
- a question about the allocation of standard deduction:
with the following simplified assumptions: excluded income $90,000, taxable foreign income $9,000, passive income $1,000, total standard deduction of that year $6,000
Right or wrong?: Is the standard deduction to be allocated in a proportional way as follows: excluded income $5400, taxable foreign income $540, passive income $60? Or can we choose about its allocation?
In other words: is the standard deduction in Form 1040, line 40 in our example $600($540 + $60) or $ 6,000?
- When having used the German Sparerfreibetrag, is the passive income fully taxable under IRS declaration or do I have the possibility to relate parts of the German earned income tax to the passive income?
In other words: Assume passive income below 800 €. Is the German tax rate to passive income then 25 % or 0 %. Or will I allocate the overall German tax in a proportional way to passive and earned income? Which ways are accepted by the IRS?
